We stayed in room 227 which was located in a 4-room building overlooking a small courtyard. It was perfect to allow us time to hang out with friends who had travelled to meet us in New Orleans. New Orleans Is HOT in the summer, but the courtyards and pool had plenty of shade and were a nice place to be during the heat of the afternoon. Our room was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. The shower had both an adjustable hand-held shower and an overhead "rain shower"...plenty of hot water and water pressure. Lots of room in the bathroom and closet area. There was also a bar area with a sink in the main room. We drove our own car and the valet brought it to us quickly whenever we needed it. Oh, and the location can't be beat! Close to Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde, Royal Street, Port of Call, Court of Two Sisters, and only 1 block off of Bourbon Street...but so so quiet. I will always choose this hotel if I am staying in the French Quarter.

We were at the back of this courtyard which seemed private. French doors to greet you when you enter the room from outside, then a very tall ceiling as you entered. Nice tile floor throughout. Bathroom was clean & very nice. Outside especially around the pool area was absolutely stunning. A tree overshadowed part of the pool, but added such an ambiance whether day or night. Favorite place to be! The courtyards were unique with a mixture of brick, stone & wood along with the setup of how room were placed. Very friendly staff, which even let my wife use a wheelchair without a charge. Definitely will stay there again even if it means an extra day in New Orleans after the cruise!

Almost unbeatable location - half a block from Jackson square and St. Louis Cathedral - and a block and a half from Cafe du Monde! The hotel itself is a collage of beautiful old buildings, one of which was originally the very first school in all of Louisiana. Of all the hotels around the French Quarter, this one exudes the most 'New Orleans' character (in my opinion) with a beautiful private courtyard and several nooks that add to the charm. To top it off, all of the staff were exceptionally attentive and accommodating. The combination of all of these things made for a memorable trip and will most likely result in a return trip in the future.

I definitely recommend Place de Armes, mainly for the location and because of safety. The hotel is in the center of the French Quarter, next to Jackson Square, yet, it’s far enough from the crowds so you won’t here the noise. It’s an old building, the room layout is quirky, some of them don’t have windows. The furnishings are outdated, even for New Orleans, the a/c and water pressure were great. The courtyard is is great, it has a clean pool and an amazing old magnolia tree. The staff is great. Most of the guests are repeat guests, can’t beat the location.

I love the aesthetics right smack in the middle of everything. There's no need to go anywhere else; everything is within walking distance. It's two blocks away from Bourbon Street. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and parking is provided at an extra cost. It might be haunted, though I've seen quite a few haunted tours on the corridor of the hotel, so maybe. I personally didn't feel anything weird.
